Whether this is your first guided fishing trip or your 100th, the Team at RiverRise Fishing Guides is here to help you plan your Guided Salmon or Steelhead Fishing Trip. If we can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out, that’s what we’re here for!
Some of Our F.A.Q.
We provide everything for your trip, except for your State Fishing License and King Salmon Stamp (If you plan on fishing for King Salmon) You can purchase your Alaska license and King Salmon Stamp Here. Other than that, the only real thing you will need is food and LAYERS! Layers of clothing are a must, the mornings can be rather cold and then the afternoons can be much warmer!
To put this simply, yes of course! Who doesn’t want to take fresh fish home right?
With that being said, although we fully support “Catch and Keep”, in an effort to help maintain our fishery, we strongly encourage our clients to release any bigger King Salmon that we catch. We always bring cameras with us, and would absolutely love to pull the boat over to the bank so that we can get some great pictures and then send them on their way. With the steep decline of the King Salmon Population, any little bit helps! We will also do the same with any Wild Steelhead that we catch, they won’t be taken out of the water (and can’t by law) but we will carefully pull us aside so that we can take some great photos!
As a general guideline, the meeting time and location will be provided to you within a week of your scheduled trip. We have several reasons for why we do it that way; The first is that we like to keep an eye on the fish runs and will select the River/Boat launches based on the size of the fish run. The second reason is that we like to keep an eye on water levels, just because one river is perfect, doesn’t mean the other is, and vise versa. The third reason, is the weather.
We remain as flexible as possible for our clients so that we are able to provide them with the highest level of success! Our goal is to provide you with a safe and successful Guided Fishing Trip!
There are a few select items that we always recommend our clients bring, they are as follows:
- LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS! It’s always easier to remove layers when you’re hot, rather than try to get warm. Bring extra layers, and we can always store them in one of the dry boxes. Definitely bring a rain coat as well!
- Sunscreen.
- Bug Repellent.
- Sunglasses.
- A cooler or shipping box to transport your fish home or back to your room.
- A camera (even though we always have one with us)
- Your fishing license and King Salmon Stamp (If you plan to fish for King Salmon)
This is often a touchy subject with our clients (money always is). With that being said, our guides never expect a tip, but it is always a pleasant surprise after a hard days’ work! The industry standard tip for fishing guides is 20% of the cost of the trip.
