What You Need Before You Fish
Every angler aboard — resident or visiting — needs a valid Alaska sport fishing license, and if you’re targeting king salmon, a king salmon stamp on top of it. It’s a quick thing to sort out, but it needs to happen before your trip, not on the drive down.
Who Needs a License
- Alaska residents 18 and older
- Non-residents 16 and older
If you’re fishing for king salmon anywhere other than a stocked lake, you’ll also need a king salmon stamp in addition to your regular license.
Where to Buy
Licenses and king salmon stamps are sold directly through the Alaska Department of Fish & Game’s official online store — current fees, resident and non-resident rates, and short-term options (1-day, 3-day, 7-day, etc.) are all listed there. We’d rather send you to the source than quote a number here that could be out of date by the time you book.
Buying online ahead of time takes a few minutes and means one less thing to think about on trip day. Non-resident visitors: bring a printed or digital copy with you on the water.
What We Handle
Everything else is on us — rods, reels, tackle, waders, and all the gear you’ll actually fish with. The license and king salmon stamp are the one piece we can’t buy for you, since they’re tied to your name.
